Using a Grid – Main Kit Only Layout

Good morning!  Michelle here with you on this January morning sharing a new 9×12 layout using just the December Main Scrapbook Kit! For this layout, I was inspired by the exclusive frame patterned paper and thought that it would make for a great grid design. Here’s what I came up with:

Fun 6

To start this layout, I first cut several of the frames out of the paper and then started laying them out on my background paper. When creating a grid it’s useful to create lines and I like to do this using the paper strips that I cut from the bottom of the patterned papers. Here’s a secret–I hoard these paper strips! LOL! They are just too pretty not to use! For this layout I laid a festive paper strip horizontally across the paper and this created a base to build my grid layout with my photo and frames.

Fun 3

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

What I really loved about the frames was that they created a blank spot to be filled and I took advantage of this by using a bigger frame to fill with embellishments and a smaller frame to hold my typed journaling.

Fun 2

After you finalize your grid, the last thing you need to do is embellish! I sprinkled a few of the die cuts, a chipboard piece, some buttons, and puffy stickers around my layout. When placing embellishments, make sure and play around with them.  More times than not I like to place them in a triangle to move the eye around the project which you can see in my placement of the puffy stars!

Fun 4

I hope this inspired you to get out that fun frame patterned paper and put it to good use!
