Sunkissed Traveler’s Notebook Spread

Cardstock Notebook Spreads with Kit Supplies

Traveler's notebooks work well with scrapbook kit supplies because the smaller page size forces you to edit down to your best pieces. Lorilei built this sunkissed spread using only the main June 2018 Hip Kit – a deliberate constraint that simplified her choices and gave the spread a cohesive warm palette.

This week my assignment was to only use the main kit from June 2018!  The kits are packed full of goodies so it definitely makes it easy!  I decided to make a spread in my scrappy Traveler’s Notebook!

I decided to go with a grid design and chose 2-3 colors to work with, when there are so many choices I find that choosing a scheme up front helps me get something made!  I focused on the warm tones from the Pinkfresh Studio Simple and Sweet collection.  I added the Vicki Boutin stamp from the June 2018 Color Kit to the Pinkfresh frame.  Love this stamp set!!

I did dip into the June 2018 Project Life kit for two of the cards, I couldn’t resist the sun card and sweet floral print.  The cards are great in TN for their small size patterns.

What Makes This Notebook Spread Work

  • Lorilei picked just two or three warm tones before starting. Limiting your color choices up front prevents the kit-overwhelm that stalls projects.
  • Project Life cards fit traveler's notebooks without trimming. The sun card and florals from her June kit dropped right into pockets and layered backgrounds.
  • She stamped directly into paper frames using the Vicki Boutin stamp set rather than stamping on separate cardstock and adhering. Fewer layers keep a notebook spread from getting too bulky to close.
  • Grid arrangements work especially well in notebooks. The smaller page gives you a natural structure without needing to measure – just divide the page into rough thirds.
  • Using one sub-kit for an entire spread (instead of pulling from all of them) is worth trying when you feel stuck. The constraint makes decisions faster.
