Tutorial: Stamps + Embellishments Travel Notebook with the April 2026 Hip Kits

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

Hey friends, Kimberly here, and I am so excited to share this gorgeous travel notebook spread that Jessica Michaels put together using our April 2026 Hip Kits. Jessica took a different approach this month and worked in her camping travel notebook instead of a traditional layout, and let me tell you, the results are absolutely darling. She built the whole spread around the April 2026 Pocket Life Kit, with a few special touches pulled from the April 2026 Embellishment Kit, April 2026 Cardstock Kit, and even some of those beautiful tags from the April 2026 Main Kit patterned papers.

What I love about this project is how Jessica fussy cut those gorgeous tags from the main kit pattern paper to create the perfect spot for photos of her camper, her boys riding bikes and fishing, and that sweet photo of her with her baby girl.

She layered in the stamps from the Pocket Life Stamp Set using coordinating 49 and Market inks, added the puffy tree stickers and that adorable road trip die cut from the Embellishment Kit, and tied everything together with thick string through the tag holes. It is the perfect reminder that our kits work for so much more than 12×12 layouts. Travel notebooks, mini albums, 4×4 pages, memory planners, you name it.

Grab your kits and let’s walk through how Jessica created this cheerful camping spread.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Cut Down Your Pocket Life Page

Start by trimming one of the pages from the April 2026 Pocket Life Kit down to your travel notebook size. Jessica‘s camping travel notebook measures about 4 and 1/4 inches by 8 and 1/4 inches, so she cut the page to fit that footprint perfectly. This becomes the foundation for your scallop pocket.

Step 2: Tape the Scallop Pocket in Place

Take the scallop edge piece you created and tape it to the back side of your travel notebook page to form a little pocket. This gives you a spot to tuck your finished tags into and adds beautiful dimension along the edge of the spread.

Step 3: Fussy Cut Tags from the Main Kit Paper

Pull out the patterned paper from the April 2026 Main Kit and fussy cut those gorgeous tag shapes that are printed right on the paper. Jessica fell in love with these tags and cut a whole bunch of them at once so she would have plenty to work with for both sides of her spread.

Step 4: Adhere Photos to the Back of Each Tag

Line up your photos on the back of each fussy cut tag, making sure everything you want to capture fits within the tag shape. Jessica trimmed her camping photos to fit, then adhered them to the back side so the front stays open for journaling and embellishments. A long skinny tag was perfect for her son holding his fish.

Step 5: Punch Holes and Add String

Punch a hole at the top of each tag, even if your punch is slightly bigger than the original hole printed on the paper. Jessica skipped the reinforcements because she planned to thread thick string through the holes at the end, which covers any imperfections beautifully.

Step 6: Stamp Around Your Focal Photo

Using the adventure Pocket Life Stamp Set from the April 2026 Pocket Life Kit, stamp around your main photo with coordinating 49 and Market inks. Jessica used a full photo of herself and her baby girl as the focal point on the left page, then layered stamps in different colors all around it to build interest without competing with the photo.

Step 7: Add Puffy Stickers and Die Cuts

Bring in the puffy tree stickers from the April 2026 Embellishment Kit and a few die cuts to add texture and dimension. Jessica grouped the puffy trees along the bottom of her photo and added that adorable road trip die cut, which tied perfectly into her camping theme.

Step 8: Thread String Through and Finish the Spread

Once all your tags are embellished with rubons, stamping, and bits of journaling, thread thick string through each punched hole and tuck the tags into your scallop pocket. Step back and enjoy the finished spread. Jessica‘s came together so cheerful and fun, a perfect memory keeper for her family’s camping adventures.
