Hey everyone, Amy here! This week I’m sharing some 12×12 pocket pages I created using the August Hipkits. Although I try to include as many pictures of family and friends in my layouts as possible, most of the photographs I take on a weekly basis are of my my home (and my dog!). These are the things that feel relevant to me now. I used to beat myself up about not having more ‘faces’ in my layouts but I’ve learnt to relax and scrap what interests me about my life today (and if that’s just pictures of our puppy, that’s okay). Whilst we make improvements to our house and garden, I’m enjoying documenting the changes and hope that one day we’ll look back on these photos and be reminded of how we used to live.

Before I started scrapping, I printed all of the photographs for this layout in 4×6 and 3×4 size with a thin white boarder. I then cut down some of the papers from the Main, Paper and Cardstock kits to 3×4 and 4×6 size, also. Then I was ready to start arranging the pieces on the page, trying to balance the bright colours with papers which were mostly white or grey. At this point I rummaged through this months Project Life cards to find some to compliment the colours and patterns I’d chosen to work with.

Once I was happy with the arrangement, I started to choose some embellishments. I picked some pieces from the HKC Exclusive Ephemera and the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life Ephemera, as well as the Dear Lizzy Saturday Rubber Shapes. I started to layer these pieces with some Pink Paislee Take Me Away Wood Veneer to add an natural element.

The wonderful card here is a transparent piece from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Day Ephemera. I cut down the side so that it would fit in a 3×4 pocket. Pretty cool, right?

The last stage was to print the journalling. I did this by typing it up on my computer and then running the cards through my printer. I did my main section of journalling on a piece of American Crafts White Cardstock from the Cardstock Kit and printed a couple of phrases on some of my patterned paper cards, as well. (I stuck the tag onto the card on the right before putting it through my printer). The ‘handwritten’ phrase I adhered onto the black and white card is from an image I found on Pinterest.

I stuck a transparent flower (from the Amy Tangerine Ephemera) on top of the card to create this kind of mish-mashed look. I liked how the flowers were similar but didn’t quite line up.
