I am so excited to walk you through this one with one of our amazing design team members, who put together a gorgeous floral layout while sharing her ten must-have scrapbooking supplies for beginners. She covers everything from her favorite trimmer to building dimensional flower clusters, and she sprinkles in all those little tips that make such a big difference.

For this project she reached for the August 2025 Cardstock Kit (just wait until you see the ombre polka dot B-side), the Reflections pattern paper with its pretty stained glass design, the 50 vellum die cuts, our coordinating stamps, and a set of ink pads for blending dreamy backgrounds. She also shows off her trusty guillotine trimmer and her Sizzix Big Shot, plus a few budget-friendly tricks like grabbing inexpensive sponges from the dollar store. Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Choose the Right Adhesive for Your Layers
When you are stacking floral and leaf layers, your adhesive choice really matters. Our designer used liquid adhesive between the layers to keep things nice and flat and lessen the bulk. If you want fluffy, dimensional flowers instead, add a little foam tape between each layer to lift them up off the page.
Step 2: Build Your Floral Clusters
To create full, natural-looking florals, start with the largest leaf first and adhere it in place. Then bring in a couple of flowers, add a few more leaves, and slowly build your clusters outward. Working from largest to smallest helps everything layer beautifully without looking crowded.
Step 3: Pull Colors from the Cardstock Kit
The August 2025 Cardstock Kit is a true must-have, with colors that coordinate perfectly with the collection for die cutting, matting your photos, or creating backgrounds. Do not miss the B-side this month – it is a gorgeous ombre polka dot, starting with horizon blue. You get two of each color, so you can plan out beautiful double page layouts.
Step 4: Die Cut the Reflections Pattern Paper
The Reflections pattern paper has a detailed stained glass window design that looks stunning once it is cut. Because the design is so intricate, add a shim – an extra sheet of cardstock or a couple sheets of typing paper – and run it through your machine several times for the cleanest cut. Our designer used her Sizzix Big Shot for this step.
Step 5: Layer with Vellum Die Cuts
The 50 vellum die cuts are one of the most versatile pieces in the kit. Use them for journaling, for layering, or even as base shapes to build your design on. Their soft transparency adds such a pretty, delicate touch to any page.
Step 6: Accent Your Page with Stamps
The stamps come with so many fun phrases, and here you can see how the little flower and leaf stamps are mixed and matched to accent each one. Be sure to visit the stamp product page on the website, where you can save and print a free idea sheet to keep with your stamps at home. It is a wonderful way to spark ideas whenever you sit down to create.
Step 7: Blend a Custom Ink Background
You can create really beautiful backgrounds with the ink pads, and the best part is you can mix them to make brand new shades of pink, yellow, orange, or red – whatever your page needs. Here our designer is adding a few more yellow spots to get the look just right. A budget tip: grab a handful of inexpensive sponges from the dollar store, and consider disposable ones since the water will soak right into them.
Step 8: Assemble and Finish Your Layout
Now it all comes together. Start with your larger layers and your photo, then begin tucking in your larger embellishments around them. Finish it off with your smallest pieces to fill any gaps and add those final, polished details.
