Hello everyone! It’s Claudia here with you and today I am sharing the second layout I made with the August 2016 Kits. If you missed my first post, see here. I absolutely love these kits and felt so inspired to create with them.
For this particular layout I decided to use a lot of the exclusive die cuts that came in the Embellishment Kit this month, these were designed by me and I thought it would be cool to feature them. The first thing I always do on any layout is start with the layering behind my photo, I used the gorgeous papers from the Main Kit and Paper Kit for that. I mostly used the papers from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection for my layers, because I felt like those colors matched best with the die cut pieces I was planning to use. I also added a layer of vellum in between the layers to add a different texture, the sheet of vellum came with the Cardstock Kit.
I decided to place my embellishments in a circular position around the photo and keep them ‘color coordinated’. I see a lot of ‘rainbow’ type of layouts which I absolutely love and I thought it would be a nice idea to do something similar to that. After I did that I added a few of the star sequins which came from the Crate Paper Cute Girl Embellishment Pack in the Main Kit.
To find more matching embellishments I pulled out the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life Sticker Book and the My Mind’s Eye Hooray Enamel shapes which both came from the Project Life Kit. I always find that adding smaller bits and pieces really finish off a layout.
The last thing I did was at a strip of patterned paper to the side of the layout and I chose the Rainbow paper from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection because it matched really well with everything else that was on the layout and added those extra pops of color – making the overall layout look that much more ‘polished’.
I also made a quick tag – you can use these for so many things; layouts, gifts, albums, etc. I wanted to make a large tag, so to determine the size I just pulled out one of the tags that came with the Amy Tangerine Die Cut Tags in the Color Kit and cut around the shape of that. Then I grabbed a few die cut pieces from the exclusive die cut pack that came in the Embellishment Kit. I also pulled out the exclusive clear sticker sheet from the Project Life Kit, put them on a white piece of (scrap) paper so that they weren’t clear anymore and put them on the tag. To add a little bit more interest I grabbed the Dear Lizzy Saturday Thickers from the Main Kit to spell out the word ‘Hey’. I will honestly admit that I’ve never made a tag before but I’m quite happy with how it turned out and I think I will definitely make more of these in the future.
Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing these projects and that you will feel inspired to start creating with your kits. I will be back with more projects next week. I hope you will have a great weekend!
