So Cute by Claudia van Rooijen
Hello everyone! It’s Claudia here with you today and I’m so very excited to share the first layout I made using the gorgeous August 2016 kits. I absolutely adore these kits and it was so hard deciding on what to use first since everything is so pretty. One of the things that instantly caught my eye as I was going through the kits, was the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life Die Cut Tags from the Color Kit. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do with them yet, but I knew that I wanted to use them somehow. There’s a lot of ways you can use these but I thought it would look really cool to mount a piece of paper behind it. I ended up going through the Project Life Kit and saw this gorgeous 4×6 card designed by Kim Watson. I absolutely love the way that looked because it instantly added a lot of color to my layout. From that same kit I cut out that beautiful black and white floral out of one of the cards. I decided to leave it as it was and not color it. I’m also using a black and white photo because I love the contrast between black and white and lots of color. I also added some enamel dots to the die cut tag to make them look like florals.
I also added quite a few of the puffy stickers which came in the Main Kit. I didn’t know if I would like these butterflies at first, but I thought they looked really cute on this layout.
I was lucky enough to design some exclusive ephemera pieces for the Embellishment Kit this month so I added a few pieces from that pack as well.
To finish off the layout I added some gold splatters using the Heidi Swapp Gold Lame Color Shine from my stash.
Happy Birthday card by Claudia van Rooijen
I also made a quick birthday card using these gorgeous thickers from the Main Kit. They are a part of the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection and I love how they’re black and white with polkadots. I never make anything other than 12×12 layouts so I just decided to keep it simple, sometimes less is more and that’s exactly what I did with the card. I added a few clear stickers from the sticker book in the Project Life Kit this month to decorate it just a little bit. The clear white stickers look really amazing on top of a colored piece of background paper.
Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed seeing these projects and I will be back with more next week!
My name is Claudia van Rooijen and I’m from the Netherlands, though currently living in Denmark with my boyfriend. I spend most of my days learning the language and since January I have been designing my own printable/digital collection which I sell in my Etsy shop so that has kept me quite busy too. Most of the things I love have something to do with being creative but I also really enjoy going outside for a nice walk or bike ride. I’m very excited for the opportunity to be a guest designer for Hip Kit this month and look forward to sharing my projects with you!
