Love You | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, Raquel here today with a new layout featuring the July kits. My post for today has a focus on ephemera. So today I am going to share a little tip with you on how I  create my own ephemera using the Project Life kits.

But first, to create this layout I have used the August sketch and August cut files.

Here is the sketch:

August 2016 Sketch

I just loved the design of the  sketch this month. The diagonal, the banners and central positioning of everything is just such a nice design that I was itching to create a layout using it. The photo I am documenting is one of my little man who has a recent obsession with my iPad. It has become a daily struggle with my son and daughter who gets to play the iPad. We have a rule that my daughter gets to play it when my son has his afternoon nap and my son gets to play it in the evening after his nap. I wanted to document how he enjoys playing it and the battles we have on this layout. loveyou-jack-logo

As I mentioned earlier my theme for today is all about ephemera. I get the Project Life kit each month and because I don’t project life as such I challenge myself to use the cards in some way. On this layout I decided to cut out and make my own ephemera from the 3×4″ cards which I will explain in more detail below. loveyou-jack-desk

In the cluster to the left of the photo is a globe. The globe was cut from one of the cards and adhered to the page with a foam adhesive. I finished the globe with the captured tag from the ephemera pack. I also cut a heart from one of the August cut files and one of the exclusive papers to use as a layer in the cluster.

The love you was cut from some black card stock in my stash and an August cut file too. I love the contrast of black on this page with the soft blue and pops of yellow. loveyou-jack-2

The Becky Higgins chipboard coordinated well with the colours in this layout too. I added a puffy arrow to direct your attention to the typed strip journalling. loveyou-jack-3

The floral die cut was also cut from one of the exclusive papers. I am not afraid to add florals to a boy page. I think this cut file still compliments the page well and I love how it looks. I added a touch of texture to the page using the Color kit stencil and some Faber Castell whipped spackle. The yellow heart is also a cut file which I have added some stitching through the middle. loveyou-jack-4

The hello good times tab was actually on one of the 3×4 cards too.  I used my We R Memory Keepers tab punch to punch it out. I must remember to keep that punch out on my desk as it was a quick and easy way to customise an embellishment for my layout. loveyou-jack-5The photo was added to the page with a foam sheet to add dimension also. loveyou-jack-6

Using a similar design to the sketch I also created a card using my scraps from the layout. I used a die cut heart and a couple of the exclusive puffy stickers too. So fun and a nice eye catching design. hellocard

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Did you see the release of the September kits? I think they have to be my favourite kits ever! Cannot wait to play with them. Be sure to check them out in the store if you haven’t seen them yet. Raquel Bowman
