My first page using the AMAZING July 2016 Main and Add-On kits!! I have to say I feel blessed & honored that Kimberly selected my collection,‘The Happy Life’ for this month’s kits. Everything turned out better than I could ever have expected! You can imagine the sheer insanity that went down when I opened my box…the colors, patterns & fun elements had me wanting to rip open packets & start scrapping immediately!!

I love how the colors really speak of summer…& the sophisticated patterns remind me of art class. On their own, the painted paper would have been too much for my page design, but I was determined to use it on this layout. The trick was to cut it down to bite size pieces, then creating easy layers, allowing them to compliment each other. Before I started layering, I used some of the Ranger Dylusions paint to add a little more interest to my background. Make sure to watch my process video on Instagram to see how I did it.
2″circles were trimmed slightly & overlapped them stitched onto a patterned strip. The heavy black zigzag stitching formed a visual break between the two busy patterns, allowing them to compliment instead of overwhelm. Don’t you love how the zebra crossing in the photo caused directionality, drawing one’s eye towards the top of the page?
The title is a mixture of ephemera pieces & some of the GORGEOUS lime green exclusive puffy sticker alphas. Notice how the flair adds a kind of ‘period’ at the end of the word ‘explore’, finishing off the little cluster nicely.
This photo is striking on it’s own, & didn’t need much dressing. A few ephemera (this kits is bursting with different options), chipboard & puffy stickers. (My black pen bombed out whilst I was writing the work sightseeing. Note to self: Never try go over anything a second time…it nearly always looks worse afterwards LOL)
I tried something a little differently for my journaling. This time I used an empty frame, allowing the cool paint effect to show through. Narrow journaling strips, allowed me space to saw what I wanted without having to fill the frame.
