Let’s Use Mixed Media – Antonia Sherlock

Hello, Hip Kit Friends,

Today I’m sharing a mixed media layout I created using the stamp set from the March 2024 kit.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

I used the brush stroke stamps to create the background.  For colours, I used the Distress Oxides from the August 2023 color kit – these matched the colours in the March 2024 main kit and embellishment kit perfectly!

I transferred some of the yellow and pink ink onto strips of cellophane and activated them with water. I created a peach shade by mixing the two colours together. I alternated the four different stamps and three ink colours to create a vibrant background.

I added my photos, in a gently swooping staggered vertical line onto the background, slightly overlapping them. The background colours allowed the bright red pop of colour on one of the photos to blend in nicely – without these that photo was sticking out like a sore thumb!

I added the title and an embellishment cluster around the photos. I added two triangles of patterned paper to the top and bottom corner – this balanced things out nicely on the layout.

I “stuffed” lots of floral diecut pieces into these pockets and added a few smaller embellishments on the top, creating two more embellishment clusters. I ran my sewing machine across the edges, to add another different media and texture to the layout.

I hope you find my layout inspirational… be sure to add your layouts to the folder on the HKC Facebook group – I’d love to see what you create with this month’s kit!

Thanks for stopping by,

Antonia.
