NOVEMBER MOODBOARD CHALLENGE | Morag Cutts

Hi friend.  We have a fabulous new challenge for you to take part in and for a chance to win $25 to spend in store!

The October kits are filled with beautiful autumnal goodies, so the mood board is a perfect starting point.

For a fun title, I decided to stitch the ‘So’ and mix it with the fabulous chipboard Thankful (Embellishment kit). To create the template, I chose a simple font (BEBAS) in Microsoft Word and printed it off.  Placing the paper on top of the beautiful background paper, I pricked the holes for stitching through the template. I used a back-stitch and Perle embroidery thread.

To colour and alter the chipboard title (embellishment kit), I firstly sanded the surface to give the Distress Oxide ink something to grab onto. Next, I blended Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide ink all over, drying the piece thoroughly.

To add further interest, I also stamped onto the chipboard here and there with the Newsprint Text stamp from the April kit. I love the vintage feel it has given the title.

I arranged a cluster of embellishments below the photos.  That skeleton leaf is so delicate.  I die-cut it using the fabulous leaf dies that are available in the shop this month here.

I layered the stunning crochet heart over more leaves and elements so that they cascade down to the die-cut pumpkins.

I love the feel a torn edge gives to a page.  I reluctantly (because it’s so pretty) tore the bottom left-hand corner from the main background, curled and distressed the edges. I tucked in those gorgeous vellum leaves, fussy cut leaves from one of the main papers plus another die-cut skeleton leaf. The wooden pumpkin finishes this cluster off!
