Hi friend. Today I am using the beautiful July kits. I love leaves, so today, I am painting easy tropical leaves to compliment the kits.
To make the leaves, I mixed Magicals from the color kit – ‘Dip a toe Teal’ & ‘Teenie Weenie Bikini’ to make a vibrant green. I then loosely painted onto watercolour cardstock. Outlining the leaf shapes when the paper is dry, brings the leaves into life. Use a fineline pen (0.1mm) to draw the leaves.
By drawing loose, messy lines the leaves look intentionally handmade. They look perfect when layered with the beautiful (and my favourite), vellum leaves from the Embellishment kit. Of course you can make your leaves any size! I created a few oversized leaves to add drama to my page.
I used the Magicals on the background to add colour to the white cardstock, going back in to paint with the ink after I had covered everything up!
I think the inky and white splatters really finish things off. To watch the techniques in more detail, you can see the full process on our YouTube channel today:
I hope I have inspired you to try out these leaves for yourself! They take a little practise but they are so much fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
