Hi Scrappy Friends! I’m excited to share my new layout for Mixed Media Monday! I straight up love Mixed Media Mondays! I enjoyed working with all the exclusives, combined with Simple Stories and Pink Fresh, in the March Hip Kits. I hope you are inspired and will share your projects made using these beautiful kits! For this layout, I was inspired by the butterfly patterned paper in the March Main Kit and the exclusive Butterfly Background cutfile! I started with the beautiful Catherine Pooler Inks from the March and February Color Kits on the background. I cut the cutfile on thick mixed media cardstock and used it as a stencil with texture paste. Once that dried, I added inks from the Color Kits to the butterflies using small foam ink blending daubers. I then added lots of Shimmerz Paints mediums from past HKC Color Kits as the top coat of the butterflies. These wet mediums lifted the water soluble inks below them, and I ended up with beautiful blended colors.

I layered butterflies that I fussy cut from the patterned paper on top of a few butterflies and added silver Nuvo Drops from the November Color Kit as the last detail on the butterflies.

On the bottom half of the layout, I added lots of layers of torn and distressed patterned papers from the Main Kit to build the foundation for my photos. I also used the Pink Fresh frames from the March Embellishment Kit to frame several patterned papers to build layers behind the photos.

Around my photos, I added beautiful chipboard pieces, ephemera, rub-ons, and brads from the Simple Stories goodies included in the kits this month. I also fussy cut flowers from the exclusive patterned paper in the Main Kit.

I love how these kits helped me capture a beautiful spring day we spent among the blooming flowers and returning butterflies! I love spring!!!
