Hello everyone, happy Sunday! Today I show you a layout with a special challenge. My January kits were lost but now it looks like they may make their way to my home soon – I am so excited, all the projects with these kits look just so cheerful, vibrant and happy. The February moodboard is stunning. I was really inspired by the pink and orange leaves. To stick with that colour scheme I combined the October and the December kits to create a happy Easter layout.
First, I picked pink and orange papers from the kits and freehand cut a bunch of little leaf shapes. I also cut a few from vellum. The leaves were sewn into a long chain that I arranged haphazardly on the right side of the layout. Then I fussy cut orange and pink leaves from one of the October kit papers to create clusters of where my photos would go.
The design team was also challenged to cut the photos into a shape and since the moodboard has hearts I created a template to cut my three photos into hearts. It has been a long time I have done that but I am actually pleased with the result.
To anchor the organically shaped leaf chain I placed one of the December boarder stickers on the right edge of my layout. I also picked the red numbers, the silver alphas, the fabric bows, a sentiment sticker and, as a finishing touch, the glitter enamel dots from the December kits.
The flowers, the sentiment strip and the chipboard circle came from the October kits. I was really pleased to see how well these elements worked together and the layout does not look as if the pieces came from an autumnal and a Christmas kit. So for this Sunday I challenge you to dig out two older kits and mix and match them to scrapbook an important memory, xx, Melanie
