Hello Hip Kit friends !

It’s Sophie with you on the blog today with a new layout to share !

Today is Main Kit Only Thursday, and I used the beautiful January Main kit for my page.

When I saw the HKC Exclusive Kaleidoscope Chipboard Phrases in that kit, I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap about.

Although I very rarely do this, I took a selfie of me at work in a very difficult 5th wave of COVID in our hospital a few weeks ago. We were all discouraged, scared and stressed out about the situation. And these HKC titles were so appropriate with what I wanted to create as a memory of that time in my professional life.

I also had a prompt to use at least 5 different patterned papers for my page.

So this was my starting point:

I really wanted to use the HKC Exclusive Kaleidoscope Fringe Border Die Cuts in some way.

I decided to create a few tassels with them, and also cut some stitched circles in different patterned papers with one of the Exclusive Nested Circle metal die (January Metal Die kit).

I cut the circles in half to create two banners as shown here:

I also teared a big chunk of the Kaleidoscope Spectacular Paper that I placed on the top of the page.

I punched holes and hand-stitched with green embroidery floss along the banners.

I glued a double string of the same floss to each tassel, and made them hang between the banners and my black and white photo.

I added my title and a few subtitles around the photo, mounting them on foam adhesive beforehand.

I decorated the page with punched flowers, some flowers cut from the Kaleidoscope Metal Dies and other embellishments from the HKC Exclusive Kaleidoscope Mixed Ephemera pack. I also added a few elements from the Chipboard Faux Wood Veneer Stickers.

I hand wrote my journaling and stamped the date.

Here are a few other close-ups:

I am so happy with the result ! I used a total of 6 different patterned papers ! A banner, or a repetitive design like circles or squares or tags, is a great way to use many different patterns without making the layout look too busy.

I hope that you found this page inspiring for you. Sometimes, more painful memories are worth documenting just as much as the fun ones. And these sticker words from the January Main kit were so very helpful for me in finding the right angle to remember this difficult pandemic time !

Thank you so much for stopping by, wishing you a beautiful and inspirational crafting time !

Sophie xx
