Hello Hip Kit fans! Welcome to the blog today! It’s Mari Clarke here and today I am working with the December 2021 Main Hip Kit!
The main prompt for this project was to create an origami element. I folded a 6×6 piece of the Home Knits paper into a bow. I created my project on a piece of the Powder Blue cardstock (cardstock kit). I cut the navy and dot patterned paper into strips for the right side. I stitched through each strip with my sewing machine. I also added a scalloped strip of the navy side of the paper vertically to separate the right and left side of the layout. I added a torn strip of the Snow Angel paper to the bottom of the layout.
I cut a piece of the Icy Mistletoe paper into a circle. I sewed around the outer edge. I added the circle to the centre area, overlapping over the right side elements. I added mats to my 3×3 black and white photo using patterned papers used in other areas of the layout. I added some die cuts (die cut pack) to a cluster to the right of the photo. I added one of the chipboard frames to the lower left of the circle and added my origami bow to that area.
I added my journaling to the lower right of the circle and then added the puffy alpha title around the curve of the top left of the circle. Some last little embellishments include enamel dots (November kit) and some puffy stickers from the ombre sticker sheet.
I love the December kits so much! The color palette is just perfect! I may not be a professional paper folder, but I sure had fun making the bow for this project! Hope you were inspired today! You can see a full process video for this project here: Magical Layout on YouTube. Have a wonderful day!
