Hi scrappy friends!
Katarina back with you today with a brand new inspiration for this week’s sketch challenge. We are using the fun sketch by Morag and my DT assignment for today was to use “summer holidays” theme. I used the May 2021 Kits.
This is the sketch:
And my layout for today:
When I create with sketches, one of the fun techniques I use is to rotate the sketch, usually by 90 or 180 degrees, or mirror the sketch. This time I went for something not so usual, I rotated the sketch by 135 degrees 🙂 and created a diagonal design.
I wanted something special for my sun rays so I used the May Color Kit – both colors and the stencil and I created my own bumpy sunny patterned paper which I then cut into rays.
I cut the blue Obed Marshall patterned paper diagonally and placed it on one half of my layout – it represents water. For the other half of my background I used many shades of blue paints from my stash and created a watercolor background. I layered my sun rays over this part of my layout.
I was documenting a summer holidays pool photo of my two boys, I put it in the center of my layout. Next I used lots of the gorgeous Paige Evans flower die cuts and stickers from the Embellishment Kit and Pocket Life Kit, adding a couple of floral stickers from the Reaching Out collection from the Main Kit.
I placed my title, for which I used the Pinkfresh Studio Keeping It Real alphabet puffy stickers, diagonally from both sides of my photo.
Inspired by the sketch I added a little cluster at the bottom right of my layout layering some of the Reaching Out and Wonders embellishments.
As a finishing touch, I scattered a lot of the green enamel dots from the Keeping It Real collection here and there, to repeat the color from my title on other places on my layout. I added three Gold Resin Hearts from the Embellishment Kit and called my layout done.
I love how it turned out and hope something from my process inspired you today to join our challenge. See all the details in the Facebook Group.
Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful and crafty day!
xx Katarina
