Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today for Pocket Life Kit Only Thursday! I’m using the absolutely gorgeous June 2021 Hip Kits today and I’m super excited to share this one with y’all. Our design team prompt was to use the Pinkfresh Studio Happy Blooms 12×12 cut apart sheet as well as their Journaling Bits to create a grid design and include interactive elements. I had so much fun with that part! Here’s my layout:
I chose the Pocket Life Kit for this layout because I love the exclusive cards that we get each month and also because I’m not a traditional pocket scrapbooker. So, I love to challenge myself to create 12×12 layouts using the Pocket Life Kits. Who doesn’t love to be challenged? To start, I trimmed down the Pinkfresh Studio cut apart sheet and pulled out a few of the Journaling Bits that I could incorporate into my grid. I then went through the Pocket Life cards and basically did the same thing. I wanted one row of my grid to be one size and then the next row to be a bit bigger. For the interactive elements, I had a few ideas in mind so I got to work on those.
For the first one, I sewed 2 pieces of the cut apart sheet together to create little flip ups and added some velcro to help secure them. I added photos to the insides of these and embellished using some of the HKC exclusive puffy stickers, Pinkfresh puffies and the HKC exclusive chipboard flair, all found in the Pocket Life Kit. Here’s the first square:
The middle square was created by layering some of the exclusive Journaling Bits and adding in some tangled thread. Let’s look at the last square on this row:
Next, I got to work on the bottom row. For the first one starting at the left, I used one of the pockets from the Pinkfresh Journaling Bits and added in a few of the ephemera so that I can add journaling to it later. I backed my photo with a scrap from the cut apart sheet and layered a Pinkfresh puffy sticker right on top. I also added a bit of twine to one of the tags that was tucked into the pocket to give it some interest and texture.
For the middle section, I wanted something fun so I layered up a Pocket Life card with a piece from the cut apart sheet and adhered them together using a little pink brad from my stash. This allows whoever is looking at the layout to simply turn the card up or down to reveal what’s behind it. I put a little 2×2 photo along with a chipboard flair, puffy stickers and tangled thread behind mine.
For my final piece, I used another pocket from the PFS Journaling Bits and adhered it to a Pocket Life card. I then took one of the tags from the PFS cut apart sheet and created a little shaker in it. I used a pinked edge punch from my stash to create the hole, added a piece of acetate for the window, put foam tape around the perimeter, poured in sequins from my stash and then sealed it with vellum. Super easy and so fun! No one would even guess that there’d be a little shaker when they pull out the tag! I added some twine to the tag and added some simple embellishments to it. To complete this final part of my grid, I adhered my photo to the front of the pocket along with a couple of the exclusive puffy stickers.
To finish off the layout, I sprinkled in some of the Pinkfresh enamel dots and added some ink splatters with gold spray and black acrylic paint from my stash.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope that I’ve inspired you in some way and I hope that you like this layout. Do you like to create grid designs on your projects? If so, have you tried adding in some interactive elements? Let me know! Make sure to pick up some of these beautiful June 2021 Kits, while there’s still some in stock! See you next time friends!
