EGGSTRA SPECIAL | FEBRUARY MAIN KIT | Morag Cutts

Hi Friends.  We have been enjoying some fine Spring weather here in the UK – perfect for Easter.    I thought I would document an Easter from 2012 – when my kids were young enough to enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt.  I have been creating with the fabulous February main kit – it’s so versatile and packed full of pretty things.

To add some colour to my background, I diluted Shimmerz from past colour kits (Oakie Bear Blue and Naughty or Nice) and green water colour paint.  I used a large flat brush to lay  water down onto heavy white cardstock.  Then using a medium round brush, I applied the watercolour paints.  I used a sweeping motion and then tapped the side of the brush against the background to build up colour in some areas.

If you let some of the paint dry and then add more paint, you’ll get different effects.  I also splattered some of the paint before cleaning up.  I left it all to dry thoroughly and lay some heavy books on top to try and flatten everything.

To add texture to the page, I could have used a texture paste, but I opted for hand stitching.  I added these little crosses using toning embroidery floss.  I love the delicate texture it created.

I can’t resist a little patterned paper – the beautiful Pink fresh Some Days collection has gorgeous delicate colours and flowers.  Perfect for a Spring layout!  I fussy cut some of those cute rainbows from the Little Dreamer paper (Echo Park) and layered them with the PFS flower die-cuts.

The running stitch helps to emphasise the border and adds a little more texture.  I punched out a butterfly twice and layered them together.  The button finishes it off with a little detail.

Another butterfly above my photos helps to move the eye around the page.

To finish off I set my title on a little wave for a little touch of whimsy and set my journalling underneath.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope I have inspired you to try something different with your next layout. Have fun creating!
