Merry Christmas – Main Kit Only

Hey friends! Happy Main Kit Thursday! I will say that there was a point in my scrapbooking journey that challenges like this one – just using a few embellishments and incorporating a giant photo would stress me out a tiny bit but I’ve reached the point in my scrapbooking journey where all I need to make a fun and dynamic layout is a few things – patterned paper, chipboard and a pack of die cut ephemera and there was plenty of that in the Main Kit this month which is chock full of HKC exclusives! Aren’t we all lucky ducks?

I was really inspired by all of the frames in the chipboard pack so I built my layout around those. I started with a photo of my nephew, Noah printed at 4×6 like the challenge required and then arranged 5 chipboard frames behind it in a circumferential fashion. Then I pulled out the ephemera pack and started creating little clusters. I will say that I am not used to working on such a large photo and that had its own challenges but I solved it by creating a visual triangle of three individual clusters and I treated them like separate elements which made the challenge much easier.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

A Tazhi layout isn’t complete without a ton of torn paper so I picked a pattern that wasn’t too busy and ripped off half of the sheet to break up the white in the background and then attached my photo-chipboard-ephemera complex right to the page.

Next, I went to work on my title and I first added a bit of that buffalo plaid paper I matted the photo on to the bottom right corner before building a cluster of the same elements: paper, chipboard and die cuts. I chose the Merry Christmas banners as my title, scattered a few chipboard snowflakes across the page and called it done!

I hope you enjoyed this layout and it inspired you to limit your supplies and to make something you love. Happy Documenting!
