MINI ALBUM SATURDAY – CRAZY FOR PLAIDS AND CHECKS by Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here sharing a new Mini Album that I created using the absolutely gorgeous October 2020 Kits!!  These kits are full of everything Fall related and the color scheme for these kits, I mean wow!!!!  My DT prompt for this project was to use lots of plaids and checks and there are the most beautiful plaids and checks patterns throughout this kit!!  The last mini that I created was for my oldest son, so I created this next one for my youngest son, Elijah.  I love how it turned out and I hope you like it too!

When I first got my kits, I was immediately inspired by the Simple Stories Cozy Days Chipboard Frames that come in the Main Kit. As soon as I saw them, I thought they would be a perfect starting point for my Mini Album.  I pulled out a few of the frames and set them aside.  I then went through and pulled out all of the patterned papers (Paper Kit)  and pocket life cards (Pocket Life Kit) with plaids and checks.  Next, I got to work on assembling each page of my mini.  For my cover, I used one of the Simple Stories frames and embellished using the Simple Stories sticker book, foam stickers and chipboard stickers.  (Main Kit, Pocket Life Kit and Embellishment Kit).

For the next several pages, I kept it pretty minimal and added a few stickers from The Avenue collection by Jen Hadfield and Pebbles Inc.  I used a pocket life card for the base of this one.

I fussy cut a few plaid tags from the Simple Stories Cozy Days Tag patterned paper and used one as the base for my next page.  I added some tangled thread to give it some interest and texture.

For my next page, I used a 4×6 Pocket Life card and layered up the Simple Stories Happy Falliday paper, using both the ‘a’ and ‘b’ sides of it.  I am loving the check pattern!!  I embellished with The Avenue cardstock stickers (Embellishment Kit) and ran it through my sewing machine to finish this page off.

I kept the next few pages fairly simple and didn’t add photos to them.  I used pocket life cards and added some cute embellishments!  The Simple Stories decorative brads are gorgeous!!

I fussy cut a few leaves from the Simple Stories Harvest Wishes patterned paper and popped them all up on some foam tape to give the page some interest and also ran it through my sewing machine.  Can’t forget the white paint splatters!

This next page is probably one of my favorites.  I mean look at that cute raccoon!!  I backed the frame using the Simple Stories Warm Hearts paper and embellished using the chipboard stickers and sticker book.  I love pairing pink and navy together, one of my favorite color duos!

Next, I took another frame and backed it with the Wild Rose pattered paper from Crate Paper,  I adhered an adorable house ephemera piece from The Avenue and added onto the phrase on the frame using the Simple Stories sticker book.

For the last page, I of course had to turn the frame into a partial sequin shaker.  That was my original thought for these cute frames.  A sequin shaker is a must!  I turned the right side of the frame into a shaker by adhering a piece of acetate, added some foam tape around the window and then poured in sequins from my stash.  I closed the shaker using a piece of vellum and that was it!  To add even more interest to my shaker, I added some Gold Puffy Phrase Stickers from The Avenue (Main Kit) right on top of the acetate.  For the left side of the frame, I backed it using  the Warm and Cozy paper from the Late Afternoon collection by Amy Tangerine.  Then, I added my photo and a few embellishments and that completed it!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!  I love creating simple mini albums and I hope that I’ve inspired you to give one a try!  Mini albums can be as simple or as detailed as you want!  Thank you so much for being here and I’ll see you in my next post!!  If you haven’t had a chance to snag your October Kits, some are still available so make sure to grab yours and while you’re at it, take a look at the November Kits.  Swoon!!
