Scraplift Challenge | Halloween Theme | Katie O’Sullivan

Hi everyone, it’s Kate here and I am super excited to be back on the blog. This week I am sharing a scraplift challenge made using this gorgeous layout by Amanda Jayne-Baldwin. As an extra challenge we had to make the layout Halloween themed. I did struggle with this as it is outside of my comfort zone however I like a challenge and it’s good to get yourself working on something new. I used the gorgeous September 2020 Hipkits to make this layout which you can find here:

This is a beautiful page to scraplift and what better way to test your creativity than to use a gorgeous prompt like this, without this challenge I would have never created a layout in this style and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

I started by choosing the lovely background papers, I decided I wanted to keep it light and airy so chose the white and black heart pattern paper separated by that gorgeous wood pattern strip. I ran this through my sewing machine to give it some extra detail.

I couldn’t resist using that gorgeous floral velum sheet by Amy Tangerine in the Late afternoon collection, I think I have used this on every layout so far this month. I layered this behind the photo and then layered some of the black and white flowers on top.

The tricky part of this was making it Halloween themed but I think I did okay in the end. I went for a Halloween themed colour scheme of dark orange and purple. I fussy cut that church out of the 12 x 12 paper by Maggie Holmes as I thought this looked quite spooky!

I picked out some coordinating floral embellishments from the kit and nested these into the layout. I also went through the kit and dug out some matching frames, cut these in half and nested around the photo and embellishments.

I finished with the title, journaling and a date stamp and I have to say I was pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Before I go you may have heard of my Instagram saga where I have lost my account after three years of work… I have now created a new page and I would be most grateful if you could give me a follow:

  1. I love this post. Thank you so much for sharing all the amazingness with us! FYI My mother actually did dress me up as a skunk for Halloween one year when I was a child. LOL
