Hello Hip Kit friends !
It’s Sophie here, happy Sunday !
I am sharing a beautiful mood board inspired layout with you today, playing with the gorgeous August 2020 kits.
First, here is the mood board, designed by the lovely Cristina Sales:
I was driven by the beautiful striped straws, and adorable cute little banners attached to the straws on the main image of the mood board. My second inspiration comes from the gorgeous left lower image, with the beautiful trees boarding the road. I new instantly that I wanted to use a photo of my daughter who climbed in a huge majestic tree a few weeks ago.
Here is my layout:
I will guide you through my process along this post.
Here is the color scheme that I first had in mind.
I wanted to stay in a very soft color palette, just like the mood board.
I started by cutting strips of the beautiful Hip Kit Club Exclusive patterned paper called “X Marks The Spot” and rolled them around a pencil as a guide to mimic the straws of the mood board.
I created 5 “straws” with the same patterned paper. I first thought that I would place them below my photo but finally put 2 on top and 3 below.
I cut the banners and stitched their borders in matching thread. It’s a simple little detail but makes a huge difference on the overall look !
I also added a few splatters of water-colour paint to my white background before adhering anything to it !
I layered tissue paper, adhesive foam and patterned papers behind my photo.
Since the photo is so big, I didn’t have much space to write down my journaling, so I decided to create a little pocket behind my photo to insert a tag (Embellishment kit) for my journaling.
My title is a die cut from the Floral Die Cuts pack (Embellishment kit).
Finally, I created 2 clusters of beautiful flowers, either fussy cut out of the “Just A Wallflower” and the “Petal Pushers” patterned papers (Paper kit) or from the HKC Exclusive Floral Pack (Embellishment kit), that I arranged around my photo.
Here are more close-ups:
I really love the end-result. The August Hip Kits are the perfect balance to create girly or more boyish layouts !
Without the mood board, I never would have thought to create a design like this one. Mood boards are so inspiring, whether you take the color scheme from it, a single image or plenty of elements from it, you will most probably get a fresh new design that ends up being different of your usual creations !
Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great crafty day !
