Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today sharing a new mixed media layout that I created using the August 2020 kits! My assignment this week was to incorporate a cut file and I used the Gamer subscriber cut file designed by Kim Watson.
First, I cut the cut file out on some textured white cardstock from my stash and applied some watercolors in an ombre style using some pink tones. For my background, I prepped another piece of white cardstock with gesso and painted on some blues, yellows and oranges. I really wanted my cut file to pop against that busy background. I backed the ‘calm’ portion of the cut file using the B side of the exclusive Rainbow Sherbet patterned paper from the Main Kit. I also backed my photos using the same patterned paper.
I used the cut file as my title, but added onto it using the exclusive alphas from the main kit.
Next, I started working on my embellishment clusters. I fussy cut some floral pieces from the exclusive patterned papers, Just A Wallflower and Petal Pushers. The florals on these papers are absolutely stunning!! Keeping with the color scheme of the page, I used the pinks, oranges and blue flowers. I also added some tangled thread under my layers.
In addition to the fussy cut florals, I also added some florals from the exclusive Awesome Life ephemera pack from the Embellishment Kit and the exclusive chipboard stickers from the Main Kit. I wanted a little more color under my top photo so I added a few pieces from the exclusive Awesome Life die cut tag pack that comes in the Embellishment Kit. I also added my journaling on one of the tags.
To add some interest to my page, I cut out a piece of the bottom of my layout and adhered a piece of the Rainbow Sherbet paper behind it. I distressed the edges of the white cardstock and added a few of the floral pieces that I had previously fussy cut.
Here’s another look at the mixed media on my page!
