Summer | May Main Kit | Morag Cutts

Hi there friends. Working with the stunning May kits with its bright florals and pretty elements make a wonderful combination for a layout.

Untitled Design

I am very partial to a little fussy cutting, so I got to work cutting out some of the flowers in the 5th & Monaco #03 paper. When cutting out florals such as these, its a good idea to cut out some of the leaves too so that it balances out your arrangement.  Don’t be afraid to snip them off and move them if they are in the wrong place though.

I layered and overlapped the flowers and leaves, mounting some onto foam tape for more dimension.  I tucked in stickers from the Main Kit too.

The brightly colour flowers are clustered together in a row – I have stitched across the top to add more interest (although you can’t see much of it now). The long flags are created from the patterned papers which I stitched around to add a little more detail.

I ‘dangled’ the title from this cluster by firstly arranging the title and then drawing strings from the cluster.  I love how this turned out – such a change for a title.

For the main photo and cluster, I fussy cut the monochrome flowers from the 5th & Monaco #08 These would be great to colour in with pens or pencils, but I like the contrast between these and the brightly coloured flowers.

For a change, I folded over the top of the photo mat and sewed a large press stud in the middle.  I finished off with a little journaling and added enamel hearts (from the April Pocket Life kit).

I hope you like the little details I added to my layout and you’ll try your had at some fussy cutting.

Thanks for stopping by.
