Hot Air Balloon Cut File and Textures by Andrea Lake

Hi Friends! I’m sharing a new layout featuring the  April 2020 Hip Kits. I used the exclusive Hot Air Balloon Cut File as the main element of my page. I’m working with patterned papers from the April Main Kit and the Cardstock Kit to back it up and I added some ribbon, a bow, and “brad” stickers to create lots of texture.

My original idea was to use the Art Walk Blue patterned paper as my background to recreate the blue skies behind the hot air balloon. With that in mind, I backed the cut file using very colorful papers and elements. I chose to fussy cut some small hot air balloons from the Crate Paper patterned paper to keep adding color. I had to switch gears in the middle of the project and chose the rainbow Sweet Story patterned paper (my favorite this month) to work along with the cut file adding pops of color.

Since I wanted to include some mixed media in this layout, I decided to apply texture paste using the Echo Park Paper stencil we got in the April Color Kit. I love the pattern, especially when the paste is unevenly applied to the project.

The second focal point of my layout is the black and white picture of me and my husband. I created a multi-layered cluster as a photo background using some of the Sweet Story die cuts from the Main Kit along with some tags from last month’s Color Kit.

I finished decorating the layout adding some fussy cut hot air balloons on the right side of the page and few details on the top left corner. I stamped the date and wrote my journaling below my photo cluster.

I have a process video on my YouTube Channel showing you how this colorful Layout came together.  Make sure you visit the Hip Kit Club website to grab your May 2020 kits to start creating amazing projects.
