Hello Friends! This is Oxana with a bright spring layout made using the March 2020 HipKits. This page is made exclusively using two products: Pink Paislee – Paige Evans – Bloom Street – Flutter Phrase Thickers (Main Kit), Heidi Swapp – Storyline Chapters Ephemera (Embellishment Kit) and a little bit Heidi Swapp – Storyline Chapters – Clear Stamps (Pocket Life Kit).
The Flutter Phrase Thickers inspired me to create such a background, namely their bright gradient colors. As a base, I chose a white cardstock from Bazzil (Cardstock kit), fixed it with art tape on four sides, as we will work with watercolors to minimize deformation. Apply a transparent layer of gesso to the base with a thin layer. I applied it not to the whole sheet, but to those places where I plan to apply watercolor. Gently wet our sheet of paper, and begin to apply our paints starting from light green to orange, copying the gradient from the stickers. Use a wide flat brush or a large squirrel brush. Using a fan brush, create splashes to the left of the resulting gradient.
I additionally glue all my mixed media layout onto cardboard, so we get a smooth hard surface. Therefore, after you have dried the cardstock, do not be afraid of the waves on it, but simply strengthen it with an additional layer of cardboard. You can use this trick in the same way with voluminous heavy layouts. Next, glue on our resulting watercolor background Flutter Phrase Thickers and some Storyline Chapters Ephemera that are a little matching in color.
I decided to place the composition with the photograph on the left. I used bits of chipboard for extra volume. A little vellum, a torn piece of paper from a notebook and only the Storyline Chapters Ephemera. I also used one element from the Storyline Chapters stamp set – Clear Stamps. We put black ink on the stamp, then immediately leave the next print, this gives us a less muted gray color and we make another almost imperceptible print.
Also, using a stamp of hearts and sequins, we complement our background, added machine lines with the help of an archive pen.
I like to slightly bend the edges of the page, it looks very lively and interesting. So our watercolor spring page is ready, I hope you liked it and you want to lift it! Take care of yourself and your family on these difficult days!
