Using a cutfile as a mask/template

Hello, friends! It’s Donna here with a new project using the December kits and it’s a mixed media scrapbook layout.

For my post today, I used one of the December cut files as a mask/stencil to create the background. I applied gesso to the white cardstock first and then placed the cut file. Then using a brush, I evenly applied water and blue watercolor. For the pink/peach hues, I mixed the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical from the September kit and pink watercolor.

Once it has dried, I placed the photo, doily, and messy white embroidery thread. I used foam tape to adhere the photo for a bit of dimension. Then I cut the wreath die cut in half and placed it to the sides of the photo.

I chose to embellish mostly with the snowflakes from the vellum pack, die cuts and puffy gold sticker packs. I simply arranged them following the circular shape of the watercolored background. I added a couple of cute animals, the penguin and little birdie, for cuteness.

That’s all from me today and I hope you liked my layout. Thank you for dropping by and see you in my next post! Happy crafting!
