Hey everyone, this is Niki with my latest layout for Hip Kit Club using the December 2019 Hip Kits. My assignment today was to be inspired by the January moodboard, and also to use a cut file and mixed media.

Here is the January Moodboard:

So I wasn’t particularly up for using the mint colour so I went through the moodboard and made a list of all the other things I could be inspired by:

Mint, pink, gold and white colours, hexagons, frames, circles (Macarons and watch), polka dots (the watch face), frames, bows, typed text, shiny letters, plants (and therefore flowers and leaves are fair game) book print and jars.

I also had to use mixed media and a cut file. I cut the Christmas Tree from the November Downloads in white card.  I didn’t like the white so painted it in the pink Lindy’s Magical powder that was in the December Color Kit. Once painted, I backed with with patterned papers.

I particularly liked the grey and pink journal card from the December Pocket Life kit so I made sure that was on show behind my photo. I added my photo and started building a big cluster along the bottom of my layout.

I made sure to use some circles to represent the circles in the moodboard. There is a circle on the journal card, the snowflakes are circular shaped, the gems on the trees are also circles. I’ve also used lots of branches/leaves and flowers to again pull through the plants from the moodboard: they are on the patterned paper that I backed the tree with, there’s a wreath, and I included lots of pretty pink flowers. I also particularly liked the shiny letters on the moodboard so my title is from the Crate Paper Snowflake puffy phrase set that is a shiny muted gold. I also added branches, trees and snowflakes from this set to include as much of the shiny foil as I could.

I really love how this layout turned out. I wanted it to be soft and wintery and I think I achieved that.

I finished off by putting those very pretty gems on the Christmas tree – as baubles/ornaments and I added a few splatters too. Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed the layout and there is a process video too that can be viewed below.
