So Frosty Shaker Cards | Jinny Newlin

Morning, y’all, and welcome to the weekend!  It’s Jinny here today with an assignment to create cards with shaker pockets.  I used the December 2019 Main Kit and Embellishment Kit to create a trio in celebration of the New Year.  Check ’em out!

Let’s get a little up close and personal.  Shall we?

HKC WarmestWishes - JinnyNewlin_opt

I started this card by anchoring a piece of the Snowcapped print and a strip of the Harmony print, to the white, cardstock, card face, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then wrapped a length of white string, three times, horizontally, around the center of the wide, patterned, paper strip and tied it, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face.

The shaker pocket was created by backing one of the Polaroid Die Cuts with a 3″ square piece of clear cardstock; stuffing it with a happy mix of sequins and seed beads; popping it up, with foam tape, over a 3″ square piece of the Color Flow patterned paper; and adhering it, to the card face, just to the left of the white, string bow and sandwiched between a Paper Die-Cut pennant, which was cut in half to extend its reach.  It was then embellished with a quartet of Paper Die-Cut embellishments…

and word bubbles, some of which were popped up with foam tape.  A trio of Chill Foil Accent Thickers stars complete the look.

The second card…

was created in a similar fashion to the first with the exception of the opposite side of the Snowcapped print being used for the background and the white string being tied, in a bow, to the opposite side of the card face.

Another Polaroid Die Cut was used in the same way as above, to create the shaker pocket, which was stuffed with the same goodies as above and adhered to the right of the string bow and sandwiched between a chevron, Paper Die-Cut pennant, prepped in the same way as above.  A Floral Die Cut and quartet of Paper Die-Cut embellishments…

and word bubbles, as well as the same scattering of Chill Foil Accent Thickers stars, complete the look.

For the third and final card…

HKC HappyNewYear - JinnyNewlin_opt

I used the opposite side of the Harmony print for the background; and the white string was tied, in a bow, back to the right side of the card face.  Another Polaroid Die Cut, prepared in the same way as above, including being sandwiched between yet another extended, Paper Die-Cut pennant but with the exception of a Paper Die-Cut tab being stapled to its top, right edge, creates the shaker pocket.

A handful of Paper Die-Cut embellishments and word phrases…

one lonely Floral Die Cut, and the same trio of Chill Foil Accent Thickers stars complete the look.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope that you’re enjoying seeing and playing with what these kits have to offer as much as I am.  Be blessed, Hip Kit Club friends!
