Hi friends!  It’s Jodie with you today, and I’m such a fan of this week’s sketch, because it works perfectly for both traditional layouts and travellers notebooks!

 

 

I’m using the October 2019 kits for this spread, and the orange and purple elements in the kits this month really compliment my photo of a golden wheat field ready for harvest.

 

 

The design elements that I took from the sketch were the pieced patterned papers as a background, the placement of the photo, and the banner at the top of the spread.  I also flipped the sketch to suit my photo (so that the wheat stalks are facing towards the centre of the spread, and this is a great tip when you’re working with photos of people as well – to have them facing towards the centre of the page).

 

 

I roughed the edges of the patterned paper pieces and stitched around the edge of each with my favourite gold thread.  I love the way the left two fit just perfectly on the left page.

 

 

I typed out journalling on my computer in a typewriter font and then printed it out on my printer.  The whitespace on the left of the spread leaves plenty of room for recording the story of this photo in detail.

 

 

To embellish I scattered flowers and leaves across the spread from top left to bottom right, added some splatters using the Grab a Guy Gold and Sweet Violet Purple Teal Lindy’s mists from the October Colour kit, and tied some of the My Minds Eye ribbon from the October Pocket Life kit to a gold paperclip from my stash to tuck over my photo.

 

 

To create the banner I trimmed down pieces from the Pinkfresh Studio Chit Chat paper as well as some of the exclusive cardstock strips, adhered them and then hand stitched over them with white embroidery thread.
