Hello friends! It’s Jung here, and today, I’m sharing a layout that I created using a HKC exclusive cutfile called My Shades. It will be available on the Hip Kit Club website soon, so keep an eye out! For my layout, I am using the June 2019 Main Kit, Embellishment Kit, and Color Kit.
Using my silhouette machine, I enlarged the cutfile, then cut it from white cardstock. I backed the cutfile using various shades of blue and teal pattern papers in the Main Kit.
I decided to use my photo as the back of the O in “for.” I had this photo in my camera roll already, but wasn’t this photo made for this cutfile, and vice versa? My toddler LOVES glasses and sunglasses!
I decided I wanted to use white cardstock for my background. I wanted the cutfile to pop a little more, so I decided to kind of paint the white outline of the letters in a blue ombre fade. I used the blue Magical powder from the Color Kit, watered it down, and painted my cut file. I really like the depth it gave. I mounted the cutfile onto the white cardstock with foam tape for some dimension.
Next, I used pieces from the kit to embellish my layout. I didn’t want to take away from the cutfile, so I kept my embellishments to a minimum. The “say cheese” speech bubble, as well as the hearts are fussy cut from Vicki Boutin pattern papers.
I used the Heidi Swapp stamps to create a few more embellishments. I added a piece of pattern paper to the top, and a few banners that I fussy cut from VB pattern paper. I also added a few of the holographic star and circle foam stickers. To finish off my layout, I added a few splatters of the pink Magical powder watered down.
When I started out making this layout, I must admit that I didn’t love it. However, as everything was coming together, I really ended up loving how it turned out! I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty. Don’t forget to head to the Hip Kit Club website to check out the June & July 2019 kits, as well as the free cutfiles.
Thanks for joining me, and have a happy day!
