Hey everyone, it’s Elsie here again with a Mixed Media Monday project. For today’s layout I used the wonderful June 2019 kits.
I was inspired by the paint brush, pencil and pen ephemera pieces (from the Vicki Boutin ephemera pack included in the main kit) to create a page all about creating!
I firstly started by creating my own watercoloured patterned papers using the Lindy’s Magicals in this month’s colour kit. I simply activated the powders by sprinkling them onto some watercolour paper and spritzing the page with water.
I also mixed the Magicals together to create my own unique shades of purple and green. The Color Kits are always so versatile!
Once they were left to dry, I went on to do some paper-piecing. I drew and pieced together some paint cans from the Vicki Boutin patterned papers, because I thought this would be a fun and unique element to add to my layout! I also used my watercoloured papers as the “paint” part of the can and hand-stitched around the finished paper-piecings for more definition and texture.
I then used the watercoloured papers to cut out some paint splats and used them as embellishments on my layout. I love how these turned out! This is totally a cheat’s way of including mixed media on a page, because there’s no mess and 100% control over what you create!
I kept the embellishing simple so I just used some pieces from the Vicki Boutin ephemera pack, as well as a chipboard title (from the VB stickers in the Embellishment Kit), and called the page done!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’re inspired to use your Colour Kits!
