So much love for the bows | Maija Männistö

Hi crafty friends! Maija here to share a layout made  with just the May 2019 Main Kit. Living on the outer edges of Europe  I am a still using the May kits but I truly don’t mind as I love them so! On Mother’s Day this year we took this photo of the three generations of moms in our family, ages 36, 65 and the respectable 95.

I was super inspired by the amazing Hip Kit Club exclusive fabric bows that come in the main kit and I just had to go really big with one! I freehanded the template for the bow so that the bow would fill a 12×12 paper. The trickiest part for sure was to choose the paper for this. But I decided to go with the Crate Paper floral paper as it is such a big and bold design. For a little extra touch and finishing touch I sew along the edges of the pieces before assembling the bow. With the sewing I inspired myself and decided to sew along the edges of the whole page to make cute stitched frame for the page.

For the embellishments I used mostly the Crate Paper All Heart glossy puffy stickers. I love the phrase stickers on this collection as I am often struggling with making up a title for my layouts. So with these well phrased stickers it is super easy! I also really like the different texture the glossy stickers bring as  they pop really nice from the otherwise matte look.

I wanted to add even more phrases and also a little bit more color on the layout so I cut out these little hashtags from the  Dear Lizzy It’s all good paper. The yellow brings a nice little pop of color and I wanted to add another with my signature embellishing: banners. I cut out three banners from the different patterned papers and finished off this banner cluster with a fabric bow.

To see how this all came together, here’s my process video! Thank you for stopping by!
