Hey there Hip Kit Club fans, Niki here today and I have a new layout to share using the April Kits. I was struck by the top half of the Horizon starburst paper that has the pink, purple and blue shades so decided to go with this colour theme.
My assignment today was to be inspired by the May Moodboard, to incorporate a Mothers Day theme and to use flowers, flowers & more flowers. I confess though, I forgot until I was half way through making my layout that I needed to use the moodboard!
When I realised about using the moodboard, I figured that my colours were ok. I probably would have gone rainbow themed if I’d started the layout with the moodboard in mind, but as I had already started I decided to carry on and make it work. My photos were Mothers’ Day themed and I got in loads of flowers which I fussy cut from a sheet of Shimelle Sparkle City Paper.
To incorporate the moodboard into my layout, I added doodled spots and stripes onto the pieced parts of the background paper. There are spots and stripes on the moodboard in black so I added them using a black pen.
I was also inspired by all the paint on the moodboard. There are two swatches that look like they’ve got lots of texture and one swatch reminded me of finger painting. I therefore used the April Color Kit Lindy’s Magicals powders to mix with some texture paste from a past kit. I made up some in blue and pink, and then mixed the two together to make a purple paste as well. I then used my finger tip to apply dabs of coloured texture past around my flower cluster. I also mixed the Lindy’s Magicals powders with water to make a fluid paint that I used to add paint splatters to the same area.
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed this layout. I have put together a process video too which can be viewed below.
Happy scrapping xxx
