Happy Monday HKC friends, it’s Elsie here with a little mixed media inspiration using the delightful April 2019 kits!
I started by using the exclusive stencil in this month’s colour kit (which is designed by the one and only Paige Evans!) and scraped some modelling paste through it and onto my white cardstock background.
Whilst that dried, I went on to do a bit of painting with the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magicals Powder watercolour (that we also received in this month’s colour kit). I scooped the tiniest bit of the powder onto a media met, spritzed with water and mixed to create my own watercolour! I then used this like a regular paint to paint some leaves that I could fussy-cut and use as embellishments.
I was inspired by the cute window and door die-cuts (from the Horizon ephemera pack in the Main kit) and decided to recreate that cute little window in a larger format.
To create my window I cut strips of the brown stripes on the Maggie Holmes ‘Retreat’ patterned paper. However, the brown wasn’t dark enough to give the impression of a wooden window, so I used a brown distress oxide ink (from my stash) to deepen that colour.
I created shutters using the B side of the Paige Evans Horizon paper 21 patterned paper, as I love that cornflower blue colour. And I adhered a strip of the A side across the bottom of the page to help create the scene as it looks like some gorgeous floor tiles.
Thanks for stopping by everyone! I hope you’re inspired to grab your colour kits and do some mixed media on your layouts!
