Let’s go, sketch Friday | Jung AhSang

Hello Hip Kit Club friends!  It’ Jung here, and today I’m sharing a layout I created inspired by the HKC sketch for sketch Friday.  Play along and add your layout to the sketch Friday post on the Hip Kit Club Group FB page for a chance to win a $10 GC.

I used the March 2019 Hip kits for this layout.  I’ve used bits and pieces from the Main kit, Pocket Life kit, Embellishment kit, and Color kit.

Here is the layout that I created, using the sketch for inspiration:

Here is this week’s sketch:

I was also challenged to add stitching to my project, which is one of my favorite ways to add texture to my layouts.  Since I was challenged to add stitching, I wanted to step it up a little bit.  I hand cut a tag from white cardstock, and I used the scalloped stitch on my sewing machine, along with the straight stitch, to add some fun texture and interest.  I also added a few hand stitched Xs.

I decided to create a tag/flag banner like the sketch.  I cut out tags from a few of the pink pattern papers in the Main kit.  I also looked through the embellishments to find more items to turn into tags, like a couple of the Heidi Swapp ephemera, and I found a few tags as well.

Since there was quite a few animals in these kits, I thought it would be perfect to make a Zoo layout.  I love the birds in the Maggie Holmes chipboard sticker sheet, as well as the butterfly pattern paper from Maggie Homes.  There were a few animals in the Heidi Swapp ephemera also, like the tiger and the Llama.

Next, I tried to balance the layout, especially through color.  Once I put the blue butterfly on the bottom right, I added blue to the top of the banner on the left.  Since I had the bright colored striped tag on the right, I added embellishments in matching colors to the left.

For my title, I chose one of the Maggie Holmes epoxy phrase stickers.  It’s so easy to have a title ready to go, and I love the font!

I really love how my layout turned out, and I’m so glad that I had the sketch for inspiration.  Don’t forget to check out these kits, as well as the April 2019 kits on the Hip Kit Club website.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!
