Hello everyone! It’s Christina here with a new layout using the October 2018 Main, Embellishment and Cardstock Kit. I was challenged to use a cutfile on my layout, so I chose the super cute pumpkin subscriber cutfile by Kim Watson. I combined it with a photo from last year that shows three pumpkins that a friend of mine has carved with her little son.
I made a mistake right at the start: I tried the cutfile with different patterned papers, chose the colorful “#5” one from the Pink Paislee “Whimsical” collection, began to draw the outlines… and then realised that I haven’t made up my mind at all where I want to place the pumpkin on my layout! Usually, you don’t have to if you use like a flower patterned paper or something like that to back up your cutfile. But the “#5” definately has a “direction”, so I had to use the pumpkin cutfile tilt to the left and decided to put it on the left side of my layout (I would have placed it on the right side if I thought about it in advance – but sometimes you have to go with the flow and it’s always nice to change things up a little bit…).
Then I matted my photo with some patterned paper and Vicky Boutin Ephemera and placed it on the right side of my layout, a little lower than the pumpkin cutfile.
Then I placed two clusters of “Whimsical” flowers and leaves from the Embellishment Kit around my photo and also next to the top of the pumkin. I also cut some of the labels from the Whimsical “#8” paper and placed them on top of the clusters.
Since the cutfile is pretty easy to back up with just one patterned paper, I thought it would be a nice idea to add something extra to it, so I glued down some leaves over and under the “sculp” to make the pumpkin look like it has bangs 🙂
Then I added the spider web cutfile to the bottom right corner, and created the title with the Hip Kit Club Exclusive Puffy Alphabet Stickers.
Some final details like the “right now” Ephemera with the date stamped on it, some Rub-Ons, a couple of heart stickers and some splatters – and that’s a wrap.
So, that’s it for today, my crafty friends. I hope that this layout has inspired you. Be sure to check out the October subscriber cut files and give them a go!
XOXO
Christina
