Subtle accents with cutfiles

Hello everyone! It’s Christina here with a new, playful layout using the September Main, Embellishment and Cardstock Kit as well as some of the awesome leaves cut files by Jana McCarthy.

Jana’s cut files go so well along with the leaves from the Maggie Holmes Gold Foil Specialty Paper and the branches from the PFS Indigo Hills 2 Ephemera Pack, so I cut them with my Silhouette Portrait on the Peach and the Turquoise Mist cardstock in different sizes.

This is such a quick and easy way to create extra embellishments and also to add some pops of color to your page. I find that Kimberly does such a great job in selecting the perfectly matching cardstocks, so you can be sure they will blend into the layout smoothly.

As you can see, my layout consists mostly of fussy cut flowers, arranged in three clusters – two around the photo and one in the top left corner.

Since my photo is a little bit sepia/ cream toned, I thought it would go along well with the papers in the Main Kit that are yellow, peach, soft rose etc., but I always love some contrast in my pages, so I also used a little bit of navy blue, and the turquoise cardstock (as mentioned above).

The title was created by using one of the MME Gold Acrylic Stickers and the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane Alphabet Thickers.

I was almost finished with my layout… haha, just kidding! I never feel that I’m finished with a layout. I constantly have to force myself to stop adding 150 more embellishments.

Okay, so finally I added a little frame of small strips from patterned paper and called my layout “done”.

I hope I could inspire you to incorporate some of the beatiful HKC cut files in your layouts and wish you an awesome day!

XOXO,

Christina
