Hey there, Niki here with you today and I’m sharing a layout using the very gorgeous September 2018 kits for Mixed Media Monday. I’m working with the September Main Kit, Project Life Kit, Embellishment kit and also the Color Kit. I’ve also pulled out a spray from the August Color kit too.
I started off by making a water color background using three colors: Wisteria Lane Shimmerz Paint, Cotton Candy Spritz Mist, and Well Blue Me Down Coloringz Mist. I applied these using the packaging technique and I also sprayed directly onto the the cardstock too. I’ve used the double thick white cardstock that came in the September Cardstock kit which is brilliant for mixed media as it doesn’t warp as much as regular cardstock. I added lots of splatters to the background too.
Once my background was dry I arranged my photo and layers onto my layout. I used the large chipboard wreath from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection and some of the exclusive Project Life cards that came in the September Project Life kit. This week’s theme is ‘all about me’ so I choose to document a family photo – we have a new baby and haven’t managed a single photo of us altogether as a family until now so I choose to document this photo and write about how we are settling in to being a family of five.
I added lots of embellishments: some from the chipboard sheet, one of the Willow Lane Tassels, one of the Amy Tangerine faux suede flowers, some of the printed and foiled wood stickers, label stickers, ephemera, layered butterflies and enamel dots too – I love the variety of embellishments that come in these kits!
I also added a really large title from the Vicki Boutin Thickers and used some of the other icons from that set as embellishments – a couple of spirals and that super cute smily face! The last thing I did was to write my journaling onto one of the Project Life cards and then I added loads more splatters (becuase I’d covered most of them up D’oh!).
I have put together a process video for this layout so you can see how it all came together, enjoy!
I love how this layout turned out. I’m so in love with all the purple and blues in the Indigo Hills 2 collection. Purple has been missing from the scrapbooking color palette for so long and I’m so happy it has been making a comeback over the last year or so, as it’s one of my favourite colours!
Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed my layout and video. Happy scrapping xx
