Using scraps to create a fun layout | Jung

Hello Hip Kit Club fans!  It’s Jung here, and I have a layout to share with you using the May 2018 Hip Kits.  I am using the Main kit, Color kit, Project Life kit, Embellishment kit, and Cardstock kit.  I was challenged to use the HKC exclusive scalloped pattern paper & the Amy Tangerine sticker book.  However, I loved the HKC scalloped paper so much that I used most of it up and only had a few scraps left… which led me to another challenge: using your scraps.

Here is what I came up with:

Using the 3 circle dies that were included with the Vicki Boutin stamp set (from this month’s color kit), I die cut circles from the HKC scalloped paper scraps, as well as a couple other pattern paper scraps.  I also used a little circle punch to get as much use as the scraps I could get.  I stamped some of the images from the VB set on some of this month’s cardstock colors with black ink, and die cut those with the dies as well.

I planned to layer the circles, overlapping some, and popping some up with foam squares.  I also knew I wanted to add machine stitching to some of the circles.

After laying everything out, I took it all off and started my background.  I added paint splatters and stamping to my background using the Vicki Boutin paints as well as some Distress Oxide inks we got in previous color kits.

Once dry, I started putting my layout together.  To incorporate the Amy Tangerine stickers in a more dimensional way, I stuck the stickers to white cardstock, and fussy cut them out.  That way I could attach them with foam dots, and bend up the wings on the butterflies.

My title is a combination of an Amy Tangerine sticker and the Pink Paislee mini alpha thickers.

I finished my layout by trimming and mounting it on a piece of black and white striped pattern paper by Heidi Swapp.

I’m so happy I scrapped the picture of my mom, my daughters, & I on Mother’s day.  I love how this project turned out.

Thanks for stopping by, & happy scrapping!
