quilted design & stitching | Jana McCarthy

Hi everyone, Jana here with you today. I am working with the beautiful may 2018 HipKits and my Theme for today is “quilted design (Dies or Punches) and stitching”
I really love fabrics and sewing, so this theme is totally my thing! First i wanted to create a super special quilted looking background, but with paper not the easiest. Right?!
So i thought about squares or triangles – ended up with hexagons! (I am not the only one today, haha) And i am totally happy about how this Layout turned out…

You can see my organized and fresh cleaned sewing Place in my Craft Room/Studio. I am so happy that i can have such a big and beautiful room for me and myself!
My hexagon punch died and so i needed to cut them all out by hand, and maybe i accidentally did not cut all straight, the hexagons are a bit crooked on my layout. But i am fine with that.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

I added machine stitching to each of the shapes and popped them up with 3D squares or pop dots… love the dimension! I also curled up the edges from each hexagon, just for more texture and a messy look.

I stitched the transparent sewing machine and a little banner on a piece of white cardstock. Clustered some elements and stickers, my title and the journaling around it… love this corner on the page.

There is no mixed media on this Layout, but the Clear Watercolored Stickers from American Crafts/Creative Devotion are a good substitute for extra pops of color.

I also have a process Video for you to watch

thanks for stopping by today
