Hey friends, it’s Elsie here with some Holiday Card inspo for you today! I think it’s great to get ahead and put together some Holiday cards before the ‘silly season’ gets underway! My favourite cards to create are definitely Interactive cards, and so here are two I’ve made for today’s post.
First off: a shaker card! I love the cute bear die-cut from the exclusive HKC ephemera pack from the Main Kit and I loved the idea of creating a card that looks like the bear is looking through a window with a snowy scene behind him.
I used the woodgrain paper from the kit to create a window and cut a hole into my card and glued the panel to some acetate to create my window.
I used the Colour Kit to create my snowy sky scene. I used an embossing pen to scatter small dots over my page and heat embossed them with the white embossing powder from the kit. I then used a light wash of the Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide to create an ombre wash of colour.
I filled my shaker with some white sequins and punched some snowflakes from the white cardstock from the Cardstock Kit. To embellish I used some of the cute exclusive leatherette stickers from the Embellishment Kit as well as the puffy stickers from Pinkfresh Studio – I love the texture these add!
Next up I create a waterfall card. I loved the exclusive project life cards and grabbed all of my favourites for this card. I settled on using the cool blue/green tones which are the perfect colours to use for the winter season.
I followed this tutorial on how to create the waterfall design, and I was surprised to learn how easy it is! I sewed one of the tassels from the Embellishment Kit onto the pull tab which I think was a cute and practical way to jazz up a very functional piece of the card’s structure.
I also used the ‘Happy Holidays’ sentiment from the Crate Paper Falala sticker sheet on the pull tab. The tab is a great place to write your message as the recipient would have to look at each page of the card to get to the message.
I think if you had some photos you wanted to include or individual messages this waterfall card is a great way of including that in a fun and unique way.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re inspired to create some holiday cards with your kits!
