Thursday Inspiration – Exclusive HKC Epoxy Stickers

Who loves Thursdays at the Hip Kit club? Three projects for the price of one! Every Thursday 3 of our fantastic designers each create a project with the same product or theme to share with you. Today, Cara, Laureen and Zinia are showcasing the Exclusive Hip Kit Epoxy stickers from the July Main kit. Grab your kit and let’s get crafting.

Cara

Oooooo how much do I love these epoxy stickers, such fun colours and shapes, I think I used about 2/3s of them on this project alone! I’m in my bullet journal and I made a spread that’s half planning – half memory keeping. This a great kind of spread for those on the fence about trying the whole planner thing 😉

I take each of my children on a school supply shopping trip one by one and this spread not only plans them out, with the dates and restaurant of their choice, but after those trips are finished, I’ll come back, add a photo or two per child and a bit of journalling.

I started with the Dear Lizzy – More Play paper and the Maggie Holmes Hello Beautiful paper as my background. I added a title to the left page with one of the epoxy phrases (as a Doctor Who fan, ‘fantastic‘ is my favourite), the HKC Exclusive Soft Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers from the Main kit and the American Crafts – Shimelle Little by Little – Magic Thickers. These are layered on a Amy Tangerine On A Whim die cut and a fussy cut flower from the Dear Lizzy Colour me Pretty paper.

To the right side page I added a Project Life card frame with an epoxy frame and a square cut from the Bella Blvd cut part sheet, Daily Details.  Then I peppered both pages with a few of the HKC exclusive chipboard and those FANTASTIC (DR Who again!) epoxies.

I have six children so I added a fun tip-in to have more room for journalling and photos. Still, I didn’t think that I had enough room so, this isn’t just any tip-in, it pulls out! So fun!

The base of the tip-in is a collection of Project Life cards and a scrap of the Maggie Holmes Be Happy Paper (my favourite from this month), it’s all held together with the Carpe Diem washi.

I decorated the inside of the tip-in (it’s more like a mini album by now) with more epoxy (see I told you I used a tonne of them :D), some Amy Tangerine die cuts and some enamel shapes from Echo Park.

The cover also has a bit of that Be Happy paper, fussy cut words from the Bella Blvd cut apart paper and THE most adorable watermelon brad from Echo Park.

I used fellow Design Team Kim Watson’s ice cream cutfile and backed it with another teammate Irit’s fantastic (I keep using that word!) HKC Exclusive Lilly Paper.

A Bella Bvld clip, glued in, acts as a pull to open the tip-in. A couple more on the top of the spread, finish it off.

Hi Hip Kit friends it’s Laureen here – isn’t Caras project amazing?! I am totally loving it!

And I am totally loving the epoxy stickers as well and have loved to feature them on a page! Such a great assignment – I only have a couple left and think we need to see more exclusives like that in the kits – am I right?!

Now onto my project – I decided to really make the stickers pop and stand out.
Therefore I used a large black and white photo to not distract from the vibrant colors the stickers come in.

I had this idea in mind to create a border out of the stickers and ended up mainly sticking to that – but also using some white tissue paper and those beautiful Dear Lizzy florals 😉

Everything is black and white except for the stickers – I didn’t even color in the Dear Lizzy florals. I also ended up kind of connecting my stickers with my design by sprinkling a lot of colored spray mist over the white background.

Now I hope you enjoyed my project – now let’s see what Zinia has in store for us!

Zinia

Hello Hip Kits fans! It’s Zinia here and I actually struggled a bit with this assignment. Unfortunately the greek postal system is extremely slow during the summer months and my July kit is not here yet. So I decided to work with the closest item I had from the June kits, puffy stickers.

I know puffy stickers are significantly different from the epoxy ones but they are also very much alike. Aside from being gorgeous and really fun to work with, both types of stickers add a little bit of dimension to your projects and stand out on top of a lot of different media.

That’s actually how I got inspired for the page I created. I wanted to use my puffy stickers on top of a really bright and colorful mixed media background. So I grabbed my Vicki Boutin crayons and paints along with some supplies from my stash and I created a fun abstract background for my layout.

I really love how the little puffy stars and banners are standing out even when I put them on top of this busy mixed media background. Having that variety in dimension and the types of materials you use on your pages makes them really unique and interesting.

I really hope you enjoyed this fun mixed media layout and you will be inspired to try something different with your puffy and epoxy stickers.
