Have you ever started with a scrapbook page wanting to go in one direction & ending up in completely another??
This page was one of those for me. I just love the frame paper by Crate found in the December kit and was looking for a clean minimalist page showcasing a few small photos & embellishments. As you can see, I sort of got side tracked.
It was entirely the fault of the Shimmerz paints in the December Color kit!! They hijacked my minimalist idea by being so fabulous, I mean I really tried resisting them but alas before I knew it I had added all three shades, which prompted me to start adding other colorful bits to my page. Let me take you through each part of the page.
Cheeky 10 by Kim Watson
Prompted by the cut apart sheet from Crate Paper, I used the no. 10 card as my journal prompt. This page remembers my lovely daughter at 10 years old.
To really push the point of her age being 10, I repeated the number x5 times. x2 fussy cut 10’s from the Crate Paper 6×6″ paper pad found in the December Embellishment kit, wrote the no. ten in alphas, painted fabric alphas & used the cut apart card found in the paper pad.
This little photo was framed with a chipboard frame. The alterable die cut words from Heidi Swapp were painted in Shimmerz paint then spritzed in Heidi Swapp gold mist for extra shine. I adore the effect!
Notice how wonderfully the Shimmerz paints blend & add shiny color to the background page? Tags, patterned paper & ephemera are a super way to fill the little frames. Gold & silver thickers add great bling & interest. Enamel dots are the perfect way to add color balance, I like to cluster them for control. Overall a color fest for the eyes!
Gorgeous shiny words…puffy hearts, gold glitter thickers, paint & sparkle. What better way to scrapbook your daughter. I hope this has inspired you to try something similar!
