Hi everyone! Jess here with my last post this month as the April guest designer. I’ve had a blast all month playing with the April Hip Kits and seeing your pages. So far I’ve shown you three layouts so today I decided to bring you some cards with the kit. I love using the end of kits to make cards when I have bits and pieces leftover and the paper scraps are smaller.
This card started with the mint green square and the wood veneer. I added the pink polka dot paper behind the “hi” and settled on the green, pink, and beige color scheme. The “friend” ephemera was perfect for adding below the “hi” and I used several layers of coordinating papers to ground the central sentiment block. I used the mint green cardstock from the cardstock add-on kit and edged it with gold paint and made a little pink tassel out of twine for the spine. More ephemera and touches of gold and sequins were great finishing touches.
I wanted to use another of the watercolor cards and experiment with the Prima watercolors in the April Color Kit. I’ll admit that they intimidated me at first! But I definitely found them smooth and easy to work with. Instead of coloring on the card itself I wet the tip of the pencil and colored an area on a non-porous surface to make a little pool of color. Then I used a brush to paint the color around each word. I added patterned paper under each word and cut very thin strip of foam tape to elevate the entire card for a dimensional effect. I finished this card off with bits of gold chipboard stickers and sentiment stickers.
Finally, this card, which is probably my favorite of the three. I love the combo of the striped paper with vellum and all the bright pinks and florals. This card has a lot of my typical layering and popped up elements. The gold star chipboard on the camera lens was a cute touch and the ribbon tied around the spine gives it a little softness.
Thanks so much to all of you at Hip Kit Club for joining me this month!!
Awesome cards, Jess! Love that they are all different. Just shows how versatile the kits are 🙂
