Fun with 6×6 paper pads | Kim Watson

Do you have a bunch of 6×6 paper pads lying around?
Are you keen to learn another great way to use them on a 12×12 scrapbook page?
Ha! I have a cool one to share today that you might want to try yourself.

First you are going to want to grab the February 2015 Embellishment Kit. In there you’ll find a 6×6 patterned paper pad by We R Memory Keepers. The patterns & colors are so pretty but had a challenge in that I really wanted to scrap these boy photos.

I solved the problem by cutting the papers into tag shapes in a variety of sizes. Having a mixture of sizes made layering the tags a cinch. I did it in such a way that they created a collage or patchwork of patterns, on top of which, I placed my photographs & other elements.

For dimension I slipped elements from the Crate Paper chipboard sticker sheet under some of the layers, lifting them. Colored paint splatters are a fun way to add an artsy vibe to your page.

Go for bold pops of color & wood texture on top of the layers using veneer & puffy accents from Evalicious, found in the February 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits! Heavy stitching not only adheres layers nicely, but also adds great visual interest!

During my creative process I decided I liked the pops of black on the page & wanted to add black alphas to the title. Not having any in this kit meant I had to improvise. This is how I did it.

Recoloring Foam Alphas Tutorial

  • You’ll need a good quality, black marker with a brush tip.
  • Carefully recolor the letters you’ll need to make up your title.
  • Leave for a minute or two letting the ink dry.
  • Using a dimensional glaze, cover the letter, making sure to avoid air bubbles.
  • Allow to air dry before using them on your page.

I hope this has inspired you to try these ideas! Remember to become a member of the Hip Kit Club Members Forum on FB & post your beautiful pages there, so we can enjoy your creativity & leave you some crafty-love.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a lovely weekend!
