Tutorial: Let’s Make a Pocket Page – Jana Eubank – April 2026 Hip Kits

Hello friends! I am so excited to share this gorgeous pocket page that the wonderfully talented Jana Eubank put together using our April 2026 kits. It has been a while since Jana created a pocket page, so this is such a treat.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

She reached for the Go and Enjoy This Life collection, and while this kit has a fun travel theme for summer, Jana shows us how beautifully it works for documenting everyday memories too. Do not rule this collection out for your general, everyday photos. It is packed with bright, happy colors and so many versatile icons and phrases that work for any story you want to tell.

Jana pulled photos right off her phone, those quick little snapshots of food and family and scenic moments that do not quite warrant a full 12×12 layout, and gathered them all onto one pocket page.

For this project Jana worked with the April 2026 Pocket Life Kit, the April 2026 Cardstock Kit, and elements cut from the patterned papers in the April 2026 Main Kit. She layered in die cuts, puffy stickers, foam phrase stickers, enamel shapes, and the most darling rub-ons, plus a few treasures from her own stash. What I love most about Jana’s approach is how she lets the products lead, focusing on balancing the colors and playing with the elements rather than stressing about matching her photos perfectly. It is such a freeing, joyful way to scrapbook. Grab your favorite pocket life kit and let’s walk through her process together.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Place and Balance Your Background Cards

Step 1: Place and Balance Your Background Cards

Start by choosing your background cards and laying them out across the pocket page. Jana used some of the 4×6 cut-apart cards and also trimmed down some of the 6×8 papers to 4×6 to use as backgrounds. She began with the colorful striped title card in the top left, then pulled that standout orange color throughout the rest of the layout with a 3×4 orange card on the right and a 4×6 orange map-print card at the bottom. Do not worry about matching your photos, just focus on balancing the colors so everything feels cohesive.

Step 2: Gather Journaling Pieces and Die Cuts

Step 2: Gather Journaling Pieces and Die Cuts

Go through the elements of your kits and pull pieces to hold your journaling and add interest. Jana selected labels and die cuts from the Pocket Life Kit, then brought in embellishments, die cuts, and letter stickers from the Embellishment Kit. She also cut apart elements from the 12×12 patterned papers, like the purple frame at the bottom and the tag in the top right corner, to use for journaling spots. Look for phrases that work double duty, like the live your adventure circle, since everyday life is its own adventure.

Step 3: Add a Dark Border to Anchor the Page

Step 3: Add a Dark Border to Anchor the Page

To balance out the colors, Jana brought in a darker navy-black border card near the top left. The reason was clever: she had a black and white photo of her cat and a black bookshelf anchoring the bottom of the page, so repeating that darker tone up top keeps the whole layout feeling balanced. Think about where your heavy or dark colors sit and echo them elsewhere so nothing feels lopsided.

Step 4: Build Your Titles with Puffy and Foam Stickers

Step 4: Build Your Titles with Puffy and Foam Stickers

Now start assembling each card and building little titles around your accents. Jana used the bright blue puffy stickers from the Embellishment Kit to spell out a name, then switched to the foam phrase stickers and chose perfect place since most of the travel phrases did not fit her everyday story. She added a sweet little house puffy sticker right beside it to drive home that home is the perfect place. The puffy and foam stickers are ideal here because they add dimension without being too thick for the pockets.

Step 5: Pop Up Elements with Thin Foam Squares

Step 5: Pop Up Elements with Thin Foam Squares

For texture and dimension, Jana popped up the flowers and decorative elements rather than laying everything flat. Be careful not to use thick foam tape on pocket cards since those pockets are only so deep. Jana reaches for 1mm thick foam squares, which are very thin but still give just enough shadowing and dimension to bring in interest. She also used a number 10 stapler to tack down the tops of the little banner pieces from the Pocket Life cut-apart elements.

Step 6: Add Subtitles with Mini Letter Stickers

Step 6: Add Subtitles with Mini Letter Stickers

For smaller subtitles, Jana pulled mini alphabet stickers to spell out little captions under her photos. When a set ran too big for a tight space, she went to her stash and found some mini tile letter stickers that fit perfectly. This is a great reminder to reach for your stash and find whatever pieces will fit the spaces you are working in, rather than forcing one product to do everything.

Step 7: Sprinkle in Enamel Shapes for Shimmer

Step 7: Sprinkle in Enamel Shapes for Shimmer

To add a little shimmer and shine, Jana grabbed the enamel shape stickers. She placed a couple to accent the photos along the bottom, added one to the center of the flower on the title card, and tucked a pink heart onto the cloud in the top right card. These tiny shapes are an easy way to bring sparkle and draw the eye around your page.

Step 8: Finish with Pocket Life Stamps

Step 8: Finish with Pocket Life Stamps

Bring it all together with some stamping using the Pocket Life stamps, which are perfect for filling those little spaces and rounding everything out. Jana stamped phrases like stop and enjoy life and best time to finish off blank spots between her letters and accents. She loves these stamps for pocket cards and 12×12 layouts alike. Finish your page off with a few more enamel stars, complete your journaling off camera, and pop all your cards back into the pocket page.
