Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.
Hey there, friends! I am so excited to share this gorgeous scrapbook layout from the incredibly talented Anke Kramer using our March 2026 Hip Kits. Anke created the most stunning page featuring a circular background made entirely from punched paper strips – and honestly, it is one of those projects that looks so intricate but is totally doable once you see how she puts it all together. She used the beautiful It’s All Good patterned paper from the March 2026 Main Kit (with Patterned Paper) along with cardstock from the March 2026 Embellishment Kit to create the prettiest punched flowers, leaves, and butterflies.
What I love most about this project is that Anke really shows us how to get creative with our punches – from border punches to floral and butterfly motifs, she takes simple tools and turns them into something truly special. She even adds hand-stitched butterfly trails and layers everything with embossing for extra dimension. If you have been looking for a reason to dust off those punches in your craft room, this is it! Grab your March 2026 kits and let Anke walk you through every single step.
Step-by-Step Punched Paper Layout Tutorial
Step 1: Cut a Circle Base From White Cardstock
▶ Watch
Start by cutting a large circle from white cardstock. This will serve as the foundation for your entire layout background. Anke keeps it simple here – just a clean, round shape that will become the canvas for all of those beautiful punched paper strips.
Step 2: Cut Patterned Paper Strips and Punch the Edges
▶ Watch
Take the It’s All Good patterned paper from the March 2026 Main Kit and cut it into strips. Then, using a border punch, punch along one side of each paper strip to create a decorative scalloped or detailed edge. This is where those punches really start to shine and give your project that handmade feel.
Step 3: Arrange and Adhere the Strips to the Circle
▶ Watch
Now comes the fun part – arrange your punched paper strips across the white cardstock circle, layering them so the punched edges are visible. Once you are happy with the placement, adhere each strip down. This creates a gorgeous textured background that is full of color and pattern.
Step 4: Punch Flowers, Leaves, and Butterflies From Cardstock
▶ Watch
Using floral and butterfly punches, punch out a variety of shapes from the cardstock included in the March 2026 Embellishment Kit. To add extra texture and dimension, run each punched piece through matching embossing punches. This gives your flowers and butterflies a realistic, raised look that really pops off the page.
Step 5: Assemble the Layered Flowers and Butterflies
▶ Watch
Take your embossed punched pieces and start assembling them into layered flowers and butterflies. Stack and layer the shapes together, offsetting petals and wings slightly to create depth and dimension. This is where your flat punched pieces transform into beautiful three-dimensional embellishments.
Step 6: Build Your Layout With Photos and Floral Arrangements
▶ Watch
Glue your finished circle background onto your layout page, then position your photos on top. Arrange the assembled flowers, leaves, and butterflies around your photos, clustering them for a natural garden-like effect. Take your time with placement here – Anke creates a really lovely flow that draws your eye across the whole page.
Step 7: Add a Word Die Cut and Stitch Butterfly Trails
▶ Watch
Select a word die cut from the cardstock ephemera pack in the March 2026 Embellishment Kit and add it to your layout for a title element. Then, using a piercing tool, create small holes along curved paths extending from your butterflies and hand-stitch trails with thread. This delicate detail adds so much whimsy and movement to the finished page.
Step 8: Finish With Puffy Stickers and Glitter Dots
▶ Watch
Complete your layout by adding puffy stickers from the March 2026 Embellishment Kit for extra dimension. Anke also added some glitter animal dots from the November 2025 kits, which are still available if you want to grab them. These little finishing touches add sparkle and personality to pull the whole project together beautifully.
