Hello, Hip Kit Friends,
I’m sharing my layout today using the June 2024 Compass Cut File and the June 2024 Color Kit. I made some changes to how I cut the compass design out in order to make it easier to use and to create dimensions to my page! As my go-to scrapbooking format is a rectangular, rather than a square design, I decided to position the compass off-centre. Accordingly, I used the cutting tool on my Silhouette software to chop a piece off the design on the right. Next – and this is the important part! – I separated the circular centre piece from the rest of the design:

I cut the outside of the compass from patterned paper from the June 2024 Main Kit. I cut the centre piece out from thick white cardstock three times and layered these on top of each other to create dimension. To create the layers, I used the Anchors Away Shimmerz paint from the Color Kit on white cardstock and once dry, I placed the patterned paper on top. As the patterned paper was really light with a very subtle pattern, the vibrant blue paint created a lovely contrast!

I used the Frogget Me Not Vibez mist to spray paint the centre piece of the compass, before adding it to the layout. I used the mist generously – I love the shimmery effect it created!

Using three, rather than two layers for the diecut gave a lovely depth to the page – especially as the centre piece is made of triple layers of cardstock!

I added a photo and started on my embellishment clusters. I used the May 2024 Pretty Florals and Leaves Metal Die Set on mixed media cardstock coloured with the paints in the June 2024 Color Kit. I just can’t get enough of this die – so versatile and perfect for when you are in need of more floral embellishments!

After adding my floral clusters, I added some rub-on arrows and enamel dots from the June 2024 Main Kit to complete the layout.

I hope you like my idea of using the June 2024 Compass Cut File in a different way! It took a bit of planning, but on the other hand, made it super-easy when it came to the layering and arranging it on the background, as I didn’t have to line up all the wedge shapes to create the centre part! I’d love to see how you are using our June cutfiles – be sure to add your creations to the June folder in our Facebook group!
Happy Scrapping!
